Are All Pendant Lights Dimmable?

Unfortunately, not all pendant lights are dimmable. Fret not because all of Swift Beacon’s pendant lights come with dimmable features, offering unmatched versatility in style and function. Our fixtures allow you to adjust brightness levels, creating the perfect ambiance for any setting.

What Does “Dimmable” Mean?

Simply put, dimmable means that a fixture’s light can be brightened up or toned down. Compared to traditional lights that have fixed brightness, dimmable pendants offer more flexibility. They allow you to create the perfect atmosphere for any time of day or occasion.

For example, the dimmable functionality of our Midnight Gloss Pendant allows you to play with light intensity, creating dramatic or subtle effects as needed. This feature lets you easily transition between bright light for productivity and a softer glow for unwinding.

How to Check if a Pendant Light is Dimmable

To check if a pendant light is dimmable, you have to be on the lookout for these two things:

1. Label or Product Description

Check the manufacturer’s description for terms like “dimmable,” “compatible with dimmers,” or a dimming feature listed. If these terms are not explicitly stated, chances are that pendant light is not as versatile as advertised.

One of our best-selling products is this whimsical and vintage Classic Hat Pendant light. From its product description, you can easily confirm that it has customizable features, as in you can easily adjust its brightness and height according to your preferences.

2. Bulb Compatibility

If your pendant light uses LED or incandescent bulbs, these are typically dimmable. However, CFL (compact fluorescent) bulbs may not always be compatible. All our pendant lights have E26/E27 sockets and are compatible with any of the aforementioned bulb types.

Should you encounter difficulties in your fixtures, especially the bulbs, you may find some answers on our article about why your pendant lights are flickering.

Can You DIY Adding A Dimmer Switch?

If you’ve purchased a non-dimmable pendant light, adding a dimmer switch might be an option. However, you have to ensure that you select a controller that is compatible with the bulb type that you have. Otherwise, it can cause flickering or buzzing and may result in damaging the unit itself.

For your safety, we recommend consulting a professional to avoid risks like electrical hazards. You can also opt to contact our customer support team who can guide you through the process.
