Here’s a no-nonsense beginner-friendly tutorial on how to install pendant lights to instantly upgrade the overall aesthetics of your home.
Step-by-Step Guide for Installing Pendant Lights
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
In any DIY project, the primary thing that you have to prepare are the tools that you would need. For pendant light installation, you would need a screwdriver, wire stripper, and voltage tester. You will also need a mounting kit compatible with your ceiling type, a bulb of your choice, and any of our pendant lights.
If your room has a sloped ceiling, check out this helpful guide on how to install pendant lights on rooms with such ceilings.
Step 2: Prep Your Work Area
Your safety is our priority. So before starting, turn off the electricity and use the voltage tester to ensure that there are no remaining live wires. Clean the area floor area from any obstructions and work with a stable ladder so that you can reach the ceiling comfortably.
Step 3: Remove Existing Fixture (If Applicable)
If you are replacing an existing lighting, unscrew and detach it from the ceiling. Inspect the electrical box to ensure that it is sturdy enough to hold the new fixture in place. You may skip this step if you are installing the pendant in a room with no pre-existing fixture.
Step 4: Install the Mounting Bracket
Each of our pendant lights comes with a mounting bracket (that black base where the cord or rod is attached to). Fasten this bracket to the electrical box and make sure that it is tightly screwed to prevent any wobbling once the fixture is affixed to prevent any accidents.
Step 5: Wire Our Pendant Light
Each fixture comes with three different-colored wires: the ground wire (green or bare), the hot wire (black), and the neutral wire (white). Connect the wires by matching the same color to each other. Carefully connect and tuck them into the electric or junction box.
Step 6: Attach Our Fixture
Measure how long you want the pendant to be hanging and adjust the length of the cord or rod of the pendant according to your preferred height. Screw your bulb to the fixture and attach it to its mounting bracket to secure it firmly.
